Feeling stuck in life?

6 months ago, I reached a personal plateau. I felt somehow stuck.
During this time, I read about a concept called "Plus, Minus, Equal."
It was developed by the MMA pioneer and coach Ken Shamrock.
According to him, we need 3 different kinds of people to grow:
- people we look up to (plus)
- people we can challenge ourselves with (equal)
- people we can teach and coach (minus)
I realized that I was missing a "Plus" in my life.
Soon after, I found 2 people who I could look up to:
1️⃣ In Justin, I met a human being who inspires me with his approach to life, plans, goals, and tranquility—seemingly flowing through life without taking himself or life too seriously.
It was by pure coincidence that we stayed in 2 neighboring Airbnb. Some might call it the "law of attraction."
2️⃣ Searching for professional inspiration, I reached out to 3 possible mentors on LinkedIn. The only one who replied was Finn - founder of Project 33.
He inspired me through his approach of stoicism, his value-driven content, and his "achievements" at such a young age (even if he'd probably disagree ;)
Finn was kind enough to hop on a call with me in which we figured out that mentoring me would be hard for him to carry out. But we decided to stay in contact.
4 weeks later, I applied for a copywriting position that he posted. Since then, I've been working for Project 33, even though I had no experience as a copywriter at all.
During this time, I learned about
- writing & content
- remote leadership
- remote organization
And I still keep learning.
👉 Takeaway here:
If you feel stuck in life, get active: Search for a mentor, create contacts, and get in touch. A mentor can have many functions and forms.
It doesn't have to be a monk who has lived for 30 years in asceticism. You also don't only need 1 person who can do it all.
You can have various people you look up to in specific areas, each providing inspiration for a particular chapter of life.
Thank you, Justin, for your inspiration as a human being and Finn for the possibility and for putting potential before skill.
